With its 3800 different plant species able to reproduce all our essential needs, Guadeloupe was declared a World Biosphere Reserve in 1992 by UNESCO. This worldwide recognition qualifies a territory whose ecosystem is of outstanding interest and high quality. There are 220 edible plant species, including 130 fruits, 60 vegetables, 20 tubers and a dozen nuts and seeds, as well as 625 species with medicinal properties.
The use of medicinal plants is an ancestral practice that helps prevent and/or treat certain pathologies, particularly flu-like conditions. This practice, which has tended to disappear due to the lack of transmission of knowledge between generations, is beginning to find its place again in the population, which is seeking more and more information about these plants. What's more, they can also be used in fields other than traditional medicine, such as food (edible plants), cosmetics and industry (dye plants for textiles, for example).
The perfume, aromatic and medicinal plant industry is deeply inked to the identity of regions, and is intrinsically linked to the preservation of biodiversity. In many respects, this sector is already exemplary in terms of its environmental and socio-economic impact.
Through our company, we want to make the most of this wealth by developing medicinal plants into cosmetics and food supplements. This project will be accompanied by expert advice on the properties and uses of these plants.
The brand FèyÔPéyi Bien-être et Cosmétiques was born from our desire to promote the aromatic and medicinal plants of the West Indies and French Guiana for the benefit of well-being and cosmetics. But that's not it ! Being an island territory, we are subject to exorbitantly high prices. So we're also keen to offer quality products, using local raw materials, for all budgets and therefore accessible to all.
The logo and brand name were inspired by Black Catnip, a medicinal plant known in the West Indies for its hepatoprotective and anti-diabetic properties.
